What to do if you want to light a fire on the beach
On the day you plan to have a beach fire, you MUST:
- Call and leave a message for the Chilmark Fire Chief, Jeremy Bradshaw or his designate, with your name and phone at 508-560-7663.
- Send an email with your name and phone to the QBA indicating that you plan to have a beach fire: quansoo.beach.assoc@gmail.com
QBA rules require that:
- You burn only wood, charcoal, etc.; no pallets (with nails) or material that would release toxic substances.
- You arrange your fire away from the path to the parking lot.
- Put out your fire with water, do not cover it with sand.
- Remove ALL detritus, including burnt and unburnt wood, charcoal, ashes, glass, etc.
